Fiona Heeman joined the AMYPAD project in April 2017, as a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam UMC (VUmc). The topic of her PhD is on quantitative amyloid imaging and hence, she is mainly involved in the more technical work packages: WP2 and WP5. As part of AMYPAD, one of her main tasks was to validate the optimal “coffee-break” scanning protocol. In addition to that, she is responsible for the analysis of the dynamic PET scans acquired in the AMYPAD Prognostic and Natural History Study (PNHS).
Her thesis “Quantitative amyloid PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease – Walking the line between accuracy and simplicity” got officially approved in August and she will be defending it on the 3rd of November at 1.45pm CET in the VU University aula (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
