The Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases Conference (AD/PD) held in Lisbon, Portugal, from March 5-9, 2024, once again proved to be a pivotal event in unraveling the mechanisms and improving the treatment of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other related neurodegenerative diseases. The event attracted international medical and scientific professionals worldwide.
Leonard Pieperhoff, PhD candidate at the Amsterdam University Medical Centre’s Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, presented an oral talk entitled “Amyloid predicts longitudinal atrophy in non-demented individuals: results from the AMYPAD Prognostic & Natural History Study” during the symposium “Fluid Biomarkers and Imaging 02” chaired by Gil Rabinovici and Agneta Nordberg. In this work, Leonard investigated the cross-sectional and longitudinal association between cortical amyloid deposition and subsequent neurodegeneration, drawing from data collected in the AMYPAD Prognostic and Natural History Study (PNHS).
Please note, the AMYPAD PNHS data is openly available on the AD Workbench from the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative. This availability fosters collaboration and further exploration in the field. Check out our website here to find more information and gain access.
Many thanks to everyone for inspiring presentations and discussions, and to the organisers for an insightful conference.
We hope to see you again at the next edition of AD/PD™ on April 1-5, 2025 in Vienna, Austria. Mark the dates!
